Sports Clubs

From your Sports Officer

*** See the page for our Darwin-Wolfson Sports Day on 9th March 2013 here. ***

The Sports Officer is responsible for promoting sporting activities in college and is a first point of contact for all activities related to sport and leisure at Darwin. He liaises with Darwin sport societies and clubs, the student association and other colleges. If you wish to join a sport club or want to establish one for a sport that we do not yet offer, get in touch with me. I look forward to seeing you!

As a post-graduate College we are very proud and supportive of our sport teams. Sports at Darwin aims to offer a balance to academic life. We have a thriving boat club, offering the unique Cambridge rowing experience. If you want to play football, tennis, squash, basketball or badminton join one of our active teams! We also have rackets available - get in touch with the club's captain or ask at the Porters' lodge. The sport clubs need you!

To give you an idea of the achievements of our sport clubs - this year’s cricket team made it to the Final once again. They brought the trophy home last year, but were defeated this time by a vicious opponent. Our Basketball team had a great run this year, winning the College competition. Our female and male rowing teams are also placed well in the College league! Join one of our many active sport societies in emailing the respective captain as it is very good fun indeed!

Darwin College also has a small gym in the main building and beautiful river running tracks close by. We can use the Gonville and Caius tennis courts and St Johns squash courts.

Our facilities page shows you the available equipment, among other tennis, squash, badminton rackets as well as a wide variety of board games for couch sports.

Should you have any questions, please contact the DCSA Sports Officer Gayan Balasooriya (dcsa_sports [at] dar [dot] cam [dot] ac [dot] uk).
