Green Committee

The Darwin College Green Committee (DCGC) was set up in November 2009 and it is the first of the kind in Darwin College. It consists of the DCSA Green Officer, who chairs the committee, and a diverse group of students. We work on different projects which we define within the guidelines of the DCGC. We discuss the best way to implement them at weekly meetings, and each member takes the responsibility for their implementation.

Our goal is to reduce the environmental impact of the college and its members, as well as to promote sustainable awareness among the Darwinians. We do this through targeting the students directly as well as working with college staff, the DCSA and external organisations.

The formal roles of the committee are to:

  1. Revise and improve Darwin college’s environmental performance.
  2. Raise and promote sustainable awareness among Darwinians.
  3. Liaise with external organisations to develop different projects targeting the college’s sustainability.

We work on a number of levels and some examples of ongoing projects can be found below. If you'd like to join any or suggest your own, dcsa_green [at] dar [dot] cam [dot] ac [dot] uk (please do it)!
